What is llms.txt?
llms.txt is a plain-text file you place at the root of your website (at https://your-site.com/llms.txt). It gives large language models and AI answer engines a clean, curated map of your site: a one-line description of what you do, plus a linked list of your most important pages and blog posts. Think of it as a robots.txt written for AI instead of search-engine crawlers.
Why it matters
AI systems increasingly answer questions by reading and citing web pages directly. A good llms.txt makes it easy for them to understand what your site is about and which pages to trust, which improves how accurately you get summarised and cited. It is a low-effort, high-signal way to boost your AI visibility (AEO/GEO).
How SEOGraphy builds it
SEOGraphy generates the file from data it already learned when it scanned your site, so there is nothing to fill in by hand:
- Site name and description come from your scanned business context.
- Main Pages and Blog are built from your sitemap, split into core pages and editorial content, each given a readable title and a short description.
If you have added an AI provider key, SEOGraphy writes the page descriptions for you. Without a key, it still produces a complete, usable file from your page paths.
Step 1 - Generate the file
- Open Sites in the top navigation and click your website.
- Make sure the site shows Scanned. If it has not been scanned yet, run a scan first - the file is built from your site context and sitemap.
- Scroll to AI discoverability (llms.txt) and click Generate llms.txt.
- Review the preview. Click Regenerate if you want another pass, or Copy to copy it to your clipboard.
Step 2 - Upload it to your site root
