A good URL slug is short, readable, and contains your target keyword. Google uses URL slugs as a ranking signal - a slug that matches search intent reinforces your page's relevance. Keep slugs under 5 words where possible, use hyphens (not underscores) as word separators, and avoid stop words like "the", "and", "of".
Be careful changing slugs on live pages - you'll need to set up a 301 redirect from the old URL to the new one. Without a redirect, you lose all the backlink equity pointing to the old URL. For new pages, always set the slug before publishing.
